This year’s highly anticipated Manchester Derby surely became a nightmare for the supporters of Manchester United. They were expected to showcase an inspiring performance against their ‘noisy neighbors‘ in the memory of Sir Bobby Charlton. However, they miserably failed to pay any respects to their late legend as they hardly managed to get enough of the ball throughout the game.

In the stadium, Manchester City fans celebrated with the ‘Poznan’ where they turned their backs with hands around each other, signifying how they look back when things behind them are alright. Things got even more comical for the United fans when their manager Erik ten Hag said:

Everything went according to plan.

In retrospect their defeat. This also made them raise questions about his efficiency in leading the club forward.

It was Erling Haaland who is already leading the scoring chart for this season’s Premier League. He stepped up by sending Andre Onana in the wrong way while converting his penalty and then scoring with his head through a cross from Bernardo Silva. Haaland continued to be a force throughout the game causing problems to the United defence.

Phil Foden also got on the scoresheet with a tap-in which was assisted by Haaland again. He also attempted a beautiful bicycle goal which went just wide of the post. On the other hand, the Red Devils hardly managed to create any solid chances and were comparatively silent in their rival’s penalty box. As City stays at the top half of the league, above United things are looking complicated for Ten Hag who will have to turn things around quickly.

While United fans painfully expressed their plight, on how they couldn’t believe what they were seeing, but were now used to it. Here are some of the reactions:

Manchester United have now lost half of their league games. They have also had one of their worst-ever starts to a Premier League season, which is highly concerning for the fans and management.

On the other hand, Manchester City are at par with Arsenal comfortably maintaining their position in the upper half of the league, waiting to pounce at a lapse of performance from either of the London Clubs.
