In 2019, he left for Brazilian side Flamengo.
After an incredible 20-year career, the Brazilian defender retired from football and got a heartfelt tribute at Maracana Stadium. Before Flamengo’s victory over Cuiaba, he said goodbye to fans in a touching ceremony. Fans even displayed a huge tifo with Filipe holding the ‘Copa Libertadores’ trophy from 2022, bringing tears to his eyes. The moment was emotional for both the player and the supporters.
The former Brazil international who made 683 professional appearances, will be remembered by fans as one of the ‘standout left-backs of the 21st century’. Fellow teammate, Gabriel Barbosa was also seen getting emotional after the match.
