Brazilan legend Dani Alves might just be on the way to being a champion once again even when he is behind bars. This possibility arose as RFEF reportedly communicated details of another edition of the Intercentros Penitenciarios in Spain. The footballer with the most titles in history is in prison. But he could still go for a new coronation behind bars.
The XI Edition of the Intercentros Penitenciarios Tournament organized by the RFEF and the Ministry of the Interior, through Penitentiary Institutions, was announced by the Spanish Federation. And there is an expectation to know if Brians 2 will participate, and in that case, the former Juventus player. It is an initiative that seeks reintegration through sport, in a social movement that includes for the moment 43 Centers throughout the Iberian country. The competition has different venues and a defined final. It will be held next June at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas.
Just as there was a time ago when Ronaldinho was global news for winning a piglet. It was in an internal tournament in a prison in Paraguay. Dani Alves reportedly generated a lot of expectations before this announcement of the RFEF.
Although many users in networks took it as a joke. But the truth is that the Spanish press has documented that their days are easier in the penitentiary center thanks to sport. They were even notified of goals and moments that Alves lived in the prison yard.
The Federation reportedly made a statement while declaring the tournament. RFEF said, “The XI Edition of the Intercentros Penitenciarios Tournament organized by the RFEF and the Ministry of the Interior, through Penitentiary Institutions, will begin on April 12, putting in competition teams composed of inmates from 33 centers throughout Spain who will try to reach the final, scheduled for June in the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas.
RFEF went on to say, “The competition will start on the 12th in Badajoz. And it will be developed in a first phase between the centers of Castilla-La Mancha, Andalusia, Madrid, Cantabria, La Rioja, Navarra, Galicia, Murcia and Valencia. This regional phase will give way to the national phase with the champions of the first, with semifinals in Madrid and Antequera, “continues the official statement. The RFEF-Penitentiary Institutions program continues to grow, in such a way that in recent months it has risen to 43 centers that participate in it, through the collaboration of 16 territorial federations. The Balearic Islands, Castilla y León and Tenerife have been the recent additions“.
80 days have passed since that Friday, January 20, in which Dani Alves was detained in Spain. He was reportedly accused of being the alleged perpetrator of a sexual assault against a 23-year-old woman in the bathroom of the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona. This reportedly took place on December 30. Since then, the Spanish press closely follows all his movements awaiting a trial that still has no date. What is marked on the calendar is the chance of the Brazilian to shout champion again. Dani Alves at 39 years old, accumulates 46 titles, including three Champions League.

Dani Alves’s brother Ney visits him in Prison
Dani Alves is still in prison after receiving being accused of sexual assault earlier this year. The Brazilian footballer allegedly raped a young woman in a nightclub in Barcelona last December 30. The former Barcelona fullback is trying to adapt to his new life behind bars while he awaits his trial and has been receiving a ‘few’ visits from his family and friends.
On Saturday, he was reportedly visited by his brother Ney Alves. Ney was reportedly at the Brian 2 prison in Barcelona for a Brother-to-Brother conversation with Dani.
Alves’s brother Ney Alves posted a slightly strange message via his social media. Many believe that was in reference to his sibling’s situation. On this occasion, he simply wanted to thank God for everything he got. His post read, “Jesus, today I don’t want to ask you for anything. I just want to thank you for my health, for my family, for my daily bread, for my freedom, and for the opportunity of one more day. Thank you God,” he expressed on Saturday on his social media accounts”.
