West Ham United have been having a great time under David Moyes. Even though they lost star midfielder Declan Rice to Arsenal, they recruited James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez to replace him. Along with that, they are the defending champions of the UEFA Conference League. A former Juventus star claims they would be the best Serie A team.

While talking to The Athletic, Giorgio Chiellini spoke about how many Italians failed in England, saying they were not able to handle the physicality. He further added that the league never had time to settle, which made it tougher for younger players.

Taking the example of Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca, Chiellini said the striker would have done well in Juventus or Inter Milan after leaving Sassulo, as they would have given time. But not at West Ham. And that for him made West Ham better than all Italian clubs.

Probably in Italy, it’s easier because he knows the league. But West Ham are on the same level as the best team in Serie A. Physically they have a supremacy that can permit them to destroy the opponents. That’s not something that is easy to figure out.

He further took the examples of English players in Italy, like Chris Smalling, Fikayo Tomori, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who currently are key players for their clubs. Chiellini stated that these players were much more physical and that will allow them to physically dominate their opponents.
