“I’ve got my eyes open,” Frank Lampard ‘excited’ after returning to Chelsea as interim manager

Frank Lampard recently reacted to being appointed as the interim manager at Chelsea. The former club legend was chosen to be the manager till the end of the season after Graham Potter was sacked on April 3.

Speaking about his new role, Lampard stated: “I will do my best, then we will see what happens. So it won’t be my decision [long-term]. I understand I will be asked a lot, I’ve got my eyes open. I’m excited as there’s lot of talent here.”

He further stressed on what affected his decision to take the role: “It was easy to accept this job for me. This is my club.”

Graham Potter was sacked as Chelsea manager amidst a horrible season for the London based club. Currently sitting at 11th on the Premier League, the Blues were knocked out of the domestic tournaments early on. However, they made it to quarterfinals of the Champions League, where a red hot Real Madrid awaits.

Thomas Tuchel reacted to Graham Potter’s sacking as Chelsea manager. Tuchel was Chelsea boss for over a year where he won a Champions League.

Speaking about the relieving of Potter’s duties, he stated: “I saw the news very late last night. The timing coincided with my appointment here. I really enjoyed working there and formed friendships for life. But the club has changed a lot, so it didn’t really trigger big emotions in me.”

Graham Potter was appointed as Chelsea manager after Tuchel was sacked at the start of the season. However, his appointment did not prove to be fruitful as Chelsea slumped to the bottom half of the Premier League. As for Thomas Tuchel, the German signed a contract with Bayern Munich to be their new manager.
