“Frenkie de Jong should consider legal action against Barcelona”- Gary Neville fires shots at the Catalan club as Manchester United still wait for the Dutchman’s approval

Barcelona

Manchester United have been left frustrated by Frenkie de Jong and Barcelona lately after their move for the dutch midfielder stalled. The clubs agreed on an €85 million fee days back but there is still no agreement with the player.

While on one hand, Barcelona has spent over €160 million already on signing players like Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and now Jules Kounde. They haven’t made enough sales and are already in dire financial distress.

Moreover, Barcelona has not paid their players their dues over the last few weeks while they continue their spending spree on the market. The club already owe a staggering £17 million in wages to Frenkie de Jong alone.

Gary Neville left fumed by Barcelona over their handling of players and new signings

Gary Neville took to Twitter as he said, “De Jong should consider legal action v Barcelona and all players should be behind him!A club spending fortunes on new players whilst not paying the ones they have under contract their full money is immoral and a breach.”

He continued, “@FIFPRO should be all over bullying like this and stop it.” One of the biggest hurdles for Manchester United in signing Frenkie has been the fact that the player wants to be paid what he is owed before he moves on to a different club.

Barcelona struggled heavily before in listing their free transfer signings of Frank Kessie and Andreas Christensen. The club also plan on pushing for Chelsea Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpelicueta. However, they need to free up wages to sign the players.

Even though the club has been selling stakes of their TV Rights to investment firms in the United States allowing them to spend like crazy in the transfer window, the clubs’ hands are tied when it comes to the wage structure. They need to adhere to the La Liga rules in this.
