England manager Gareth Southgate has made the news after still being unsure about Phil Foden‘s best positions. Southgate has been the Three Lions manager for a while now. It would be expected that he might have his best XI pre-decided by now. However, the Euro runners-up manager is still indecisive and experiments with players in new roles, causing distress among English fans.
Phil Foden had won the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season. He seems to have lost his winger position to this year’s winner in Bukayo Saka. Foden has, however, impressed City fans and his manager, Pep Guardiola, with his central midfield role. He has been setting up Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland multiple times this season.
At Manchester City, Foden competes for the midfield role with World-Class players like Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva. With De Bruyne injured, Foden has been rising to the occasion to showcase his ‘on-the-ball’ abilities. Southgate brought on Foden during the second half of their game against Ukraine and wasn’t massively impressed. and said he might be speaking to Pep about other players’ best positions.

Phil Foden is known for playing multiple positions and displaying versatile abilities on the pitch. With England looking to emerge as a powerhouse, it is a massive responsibility upon his shoulders to become a regular starter for his country. However, with Southgate running down rumors of his sacking, maybe it’s the dawn of a new era for the National Team.
Manchester City start the new season as Premier League favorites again
Manchester City will start the new Premier League season as favorites to win the title. The club has been strengthened by the signings of Josko Gvardiol, Matheus Nunes, Mateo Kovacic, and Jeremy Doku. They will be looking to build on last season’s success when they won the league by a comfortable margin.
City will face stiff competition from Liverpool and Arsenal, but they have the squad depth and quality. Pep Guardiola’s side will also be motivated by the desire to reclaim their throne as the European Champions. Given that they won the historic Treble, expectations are now higher than ever for the English Club.

However, with injuries to star players like Kevin De Bruyne and Nathan Ake recently for the Netherlands, other important players will undoubtedly have to step up and fill in the void. Manchester City looks like another force to be reckoned with this season as they remain on top of the Premier League table, undefeated in their campaign so far.
