The Indian multinational educational technology company- Byju’s developed by Byju Raveendran and Divya Gokulnath, has unveiled Argentine legend, Lionel Messi, as their brand ambassador for the company’s social initiative ‘Education for all.

The Indian company Byju’s which is the official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup 2022 as well have been continuously hitting headlines in the recent news, regarding their statement on a probable firing of 2500+ employees, reasoned as adverse macroeconomic conditions.

All this might take place in the short span of the approaching six months. Announcing the great football star as a brand ambassador might attract some attention that the star would carry along himself, but the stains of these controversial actions shall remain intact.

Byju’s’ policy will make such a huge impact on the economy, laying off thousands of people jobless and contributing to a factor that the company was initially built to stand strictly against, which is unemployment. Byju’s adverse macroeconomics could lay off thousands at work

Following the decision, now the founder and CEO Byju Raveendran sent an email to all the employees and apologized to all those who are getting fired. He has acknowledged that the company is letting go of many employees and said he is “truly sorry” but the ongoing macroeconomic conditions have compelled the company to take such a decision.

The unicorn ed-tech startup is planning it in the coming six months under its plan of optimizing the spending cost and operational cost of the company across departments. The company has already started the process and has even asked employees who are being laid off to serve a notice period of 15 days.
