Glazers reportedly receive last-minute aid which could help them continue at Manchester United
The Manchester United sale witnesses a new turn of events after the Glazers family receive an option to continue at the club with the help of a US hedge-fund.
Manchester United owners the Glazers brother
American-based firm Elliot Management has given the Glazers family a golden chance to retain their ownership after offering the family financial auspices. Manchester United fans would be fuming after sources confirmed that the American firm has asked Glazers to continue at Old Trafford and are going against their long-lasting protests against the family.
As per reports from ESPN, the hedge fund’s aim is to only provide the family with just financial backing. They are not interested in taking control of the club. It has surely been a busy week for the Raine Group as they have been tasked to seek appropriate alternatives from a couple of lustrous options. The United States bank also played a crucial role in Premier League club Chelsea’s sale last season to Todd Boehly.
As of now, Jim Ratcliffe (INEOS owner and Manchester United fan), and Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani (chairman of the Qatar Islamic Bank) have submitted bids for the Red Devils. Although Joel and Avram Glazer would like the idea of staying at the club, a decision would surely be heavily protested by the supporters of the club.
The relationship between the fans and the owners have deteriorated since their purchase of the club 18 years back. Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, Manchester United hasn’t won either the Champions League or the Premier League. The Old Trafford faithfulls have often blamed the Glazers’ family for their crooked administration in recent years. Despite appointing successful managers like Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho, the club hasn’t retained the dominance they set in England previously.

Manchester United’s downfall since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure
Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson served at Old Trafford for 27 significant seasons. During his tenure, he won Manchester United the Premier League 13 times and were European champions twice. He is still the manager holding the highest number of league titles in Premier League history. Though, since his retirement in 2013, things have only gone downhill for the Red Devils.
Manchester United have severely fallen below the standards that they used to hold themselves at after failing to win any silverware in the last five seasons. There is still hope for Erik Ten Hag’s side this season because the club is in all four of the competitions it participated in. The last time United won a trophy was in 2017 when Jose Mourinho helped the club to a UEFA Europa League trophy.
They are the current favorites to win the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United this week. This could be the manager’s opportunity to lead the United squad to a trophy after six long years. Manchester United seems to be on the right track after a brave 2-2 battle against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou. How many trophies do you think the Red Devils can seize by the end of the season?
