“Have a lot of respect for our fans”- Jose Jimenez hints that Atletico Madrid might not give a guard of honor to Real Madrid after their La Liga glory

In a recent interview, Atletico Madrid’s captain Jose Jimenez hinted that Real Madrid will not receive the guard of honor after winning the La Liga title. The 35-time league winners will next play Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby at the Wanda Metropolitana stadium.

Jose Gimenez and Jan Oblak were among the players who have shown their dislike to pay any tribute to their city-rivals because they have a lot of respect for their fans. Gimenez commented that they will definitely congratulate the Los Blancos for winning the title but won’t give them any tribute. The fans won’t like the gesture much as Atletico is in the fifth position after they lost 2-0 to Athletic Club in the last matchday.

“A guard of honour to Real Madrid? We congratulate them, but we have a lot of respect for our fans”, said Jose Gimenez before the Madrid derby. As captain, I’m one of those who doesn’t like to give or receive the guard of honor,” said the Atletico goalkeeper. “The club will decide and we’ll do whatever is necessary,” said Jimenez.
