Manchester City boss furious over match official's decisions, granting United's first goal by Bruno Fernandes.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola
Manchester City’s head coach Pep Guardiola is disappointed with the match officials after a heavy 2-1 loss against Manchester United. The Spanish manager complained about Marcus Rashford’s offside positioning in United’s build-up to their first goal. Pep also revealed that he had lost hopes of winning the Premier League and the Carabao Cup with City.
“We played really good, our levels against them, they were an incredible threat, incredible counterattacks. But I congratulate the team, it’s a pride to come here and play with this personality, they run behind us and expect one action and punish us in transitions,” Guardiola spoke to BT Sports.
Manchester City has now lost consecutive games for the first time this season. After a disheartening 2-0 defeat against Southampton, Guardiola’s side failed to cruise past Erik Ten Hag’s side. “I don’t care about the Premier League and Carabao Cup. We cannot win. We won [them] a lot. It’s not a problem. The problem is we perform like we have done“. Pep Guardiola added.
Marcus Rashford had an exceptional evening at Old Trafford as the winger was crucial for United in both goals. The English attacker led the attack with intensity and created a lot of trouble for Manchester City’s high-line defense. After an astounding dummy to set up Bruno’s goal, Rashford sealed the winner, assisted by Garnacho after just three minutes.
