“He has to correct these things or he’ll be the second Neymar”- Real Madrid’s Vinicius receives harsh criticism after Atletico Madrid contest

Josep Pedrerol and Vinicius

Spanish journalist Josep Pedrerol criticizes Vinicius Jr.’s behavior following Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid. Josep Pedrerol said “I have always defended Vinicius but I didn’t like him today. He has to correct these things or he’ll be the 2nd Neymar.”

Pedro Bravo, a football agent, recently launched a racist tirade at Vinicius for celebrating his goal during Real Madrid’s 4-1 La Liga victory over Mallorca last Sunday. Bravo’s remarks were abhorrent. Before the Atletico match, the young winger’s Real Madrid and Brazil teammates stood with him. Vinicius replied to the event by doing his signature dance in jubilation after Rodrygo scored a goal against Los Rojiblancos.

Vinicius was reprimanded by Pedrerol on El Chiringuito TV shortly after Carlo Ancelotti’s team recorded their sixth league victory of the year, warning that he risked becoming the “second Neymar” if he didn’t “‘correct his habit of showboating. Since then, video has also surfaced showing Atletico Madrid supporters insulting Vinicius in a racist and extremely offensive manner before and during the Madrid derby.

Real Madrid star slams critics and defends dancing

Vinicius

Vinicius Junior, a Real Madrid player, referred to the critics of his goal celebrations as racists on Saturday and vowed to continue dancing in spite of them.

Spanish sports talk programmes have been debating whether or not his celebrations were suitable, and a television pundit advised him to quit “doing the monkey.”

Real Madrid protested the comments on Friday, and Vinicius responded in a video message on Saturday in Portuguese, saying that dancing is a part of his cultural expression and citing other soccer players, both black and white, who have also celebrated goals by dancing.
