“He was not at my level”- 2-time Treble winner makes bold claims about Arsenal legend Thierry Henry
One of the greatest players in Premier League history is acknowledged by many to be Thierry Henry. In 376 games for Arsenal, the France international scored 228 goals and helped the club win the FA Cup twice as well as two Premier League titles. He eventually left Arsenal in 2007 to join Barcelona, where he became acquainted with Samuel Eto’o.
The Cameroon international was one of the brightest talents at the Nou Camp at the time. Under Pep Guardiola’s management, they achieved a historic treble in the 2008–09 campaign. Eto’o later left Barcelona for Inter Milan that summer.
Eto’o recently made the astounding claim that Henry was inferior to him as a player and that Nicholas Anelka, another player of his international team, was more dazzling than the French striker. “I think he was not at the level of Nicolas Anelka. Thierry Henry was good, but I knew players… I preferred other players,” said Eto’o, as reported by the French publication Foot Mercato.
“In any case, he was not at my level. The luck or the bad luck that I had me, was not to play for France. Those who played in France had plus 70 percent. It’s not because they were strong, but because France sells them better. They sold them to us and brought them up to our level…”
“We’ll be talking about him alongside Thierry Henry” – Jamie Carragher on Erling Haaland
According to Jamie Carragher, Erling Haaland possesses the skills to become the best player the Premier League has ever seen. Carragher thinks the Premier League is witnessing something exceptional as the Norwegian has lived up to his reputation as one of the hottest properties around since arriving in England.
“We know we’ve got a great player in the league, but I think we’ve got something really special that when he’s finished his time at Manchester City or the Premier League, we’ll be talking about him alongside Thierry Henry. This lad could end up being the best player we see in the Premier League. He’s made a brilliant start, so I’m really excited to see him at the weekend,” said Carragher about the Norweigian.
