Here’s why Manchester United is facing a striker deficit despite having three candidates for the position
Manchester United's three striking options for the season.
Manchester United have had a great transfer window this summer and has solved their defensive and midfield problems with their new signings- Antony, Casemiro, Malacia, and Martinez. But still, they are lacking in the final third of the ground and they currently are without a proper striker with Anthony Martial still tending to his Achilles injury while Marcus Rashford is also sidelined with an issue.
Cristiano Ronaldo is currently out of touch and has scored only one goal this season that too being a penalty. There is no shame in accepting that he is not even half the player he was and is getting no younger as he will be 38 in 5 months and may even leave the club in January. Erik ten Hag needs to scout a few young talents and need to solve the striking issue in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Is it the end of the great Cristiano Ronaldo?
Cristiano Ronaldo started just three games for Manchester United this season and two of those have come because of no options in the position with both Martial and Rashford sidelined with injury. It has been an unusual start to the season for the Portuguese who is known for in lethal scoring records every season and only time will tell if the 37-year-old still has it in him to perform at the top level.
Rich Fay still has confidence in Ronaldo saying that, “The United striker has started just one of the Reds’ opening six Premier League matches this season, meaning he has found himself in an unprecedented situation, such is his status in the game. Despite that, he still remains a player who can give United something special.”
