Sadio Mane completed a move to Bundesliga club Bayern Munich in the summer, ending his trophy-laden six-year stay at Anfield. The forward rose to become one of the finest players in the world, scoring 120 goals in 269 games while winning the Premier League and the Champions League, among other titles. However, it has now been revealed that Mane was fined many times for failing to bring his passport on trips. “Some of the fines are hefty,” Scottish full-back Andy Robertson told the We Are Liverpool podcast.
The Merseyside outfit has been underperforming since Mane’s departure to the bavarian reds and many of the fans have attributed that to letting Mane go. Mane, however, has been immense at Munich lodging nine goal contributions in just 14 matches.
However, it has now been revealed that Mane was fined many times for failing to bring his passport on trips. “Some of the fines are hefty,” Scottish full-back Andy Robertson told the We Are Liverpool podcast. “If you forget your passport for an away trip, you’re getting a chunk of your income taken off you. It occurred a few times, and Sadio was a major perpetrator, and it certainly delayed the plane and our arrival. We had to pay a large fine.” Robertson also disclosed that club captain Jordan Henderson and vice-captain James Milner oversee the fine system. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool club has battled to replace not just Mane’s goals but also his impact on the team since his departure. Liverpool presently sits in ninth place in the Premier League table with 29 points, ten points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
