Rafael Leao and Graham Potter

Rafael Leao, who is a target for Chelsea, has been dubbed a “great player” by Chelsea manager Graham Potter, who also expressed his admiration for the 23-year-old. Since Leao’s contract with AC Milan expires in 2024 and he has been in outstanding form for more than a season, many of Europe’s top teams are showing a lot of interest in the winger.

On the day of the transfer deadline, Rafael Leao was reportedly connected to Chelsea, according to the sources. The Serie A champions reportedly accepted the Blues’ €80 million offer for Leao, and Potter’s comments about the player during today’s press conference suggest that the Blues won’t have lost interest in the player between now and then.

The Chelsea manager Graham Potter said:

“I’ve been really impressed with Rafa Leao whenever I’ve watched Milan games, he’s a top player,”

Chelsea go head-to-head with AC Milan tomorrow night and it will be a chance for Potter to watch the 23-year-old up close. There is a long way to go until the summer window but the London club are certain to be in the race for the Portuguese star.

If the Blues sign Leao this winter, Potter will already have a solid understanding of his game because he will be focusing on tactics to stop him. Leao has “the capability” to play like this in the Premier League too, but the former Brighton coach was reluctant to elaborate further on the transfer front.
