Brazilian player, Neymar injured during match against Serbia
Neymar was seen in grief on the Brazil sidelines after leaving his squad’s 2-0 victory over Serbia to begin their World Cup contest in Qatar on Thursday due to a right ankle injury. According to the medical team, Brazil, aiming for a sixth World Cup title, will now have to sit tight between 24 and 48 hours to checkif Neymar will play again in this year’s championship.
Neymar was at the core of a powered strike for Brazil as Tottenham striker Richarlison netted twice, which included a breathtaking second. The Selecao will now encounter an anxious few days as they seek more information on Neymar’s health. The Serbian men fouled the Brazilian forward nine times throughout the match.
Antony substituted Neymar in the 80th minute after spending significant time on the pitch at the Lusail Iconic Stadium after a dangerous foul by Nikola Milenkovic. Team medics on the bench applied ice packs to Neymar, who was seen limping toward the Brazil locker room following the victory.
After he headed to the substitutes’ bench, the 30-year-old was highly disheartened and seemed to be in tears while hiding his face with his jersey. However, no conclusive diagnosis on the level of his pain has been initiated; the eager wait for a diagnosis is similar to the injury that compelled Neymar out of Brazil in 2014 when a shattered vertebra after a challenge by Colombia’s Camilo Zuniga finished his contest in the quarterfinals.

What has Brazil said about Neymar’s injury so far?
Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar told the media after the match that it is still too soon to determine how severe Neymar’s injury is. “Neymar has an injury on his right ankle, a direct trauma,” Lasmar stated as reported by ESPN. “He continues with the physio, but now needs to wait 24 to 48 hours for a better assessment. There is no MRI scan scheduled, but tomorrow we will make a new assessment. We need to wait and cannot make any premature comments.”
Neymar uploaded a message on his Twitter account without any context about his injury. “Tough game but it’s very important to get the win. Congrats team, first step done…6 more to go”, Neymar posted.
