Liverpool recently announced the signing of Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen for a fee of £4.2 million. The 18-year-old who is yet to feature for the National team signed a 5-year contract with the Reds.

The fullback who made 39 appearances for Aberdeen last season is expected to compete with Trent Alexander Arnold for the Right back position. However, does Ramsey have it in him to replace one of the best fullbacks in the world?

Can Calvin Ramsay replace TAA as Liverpool’s first-choice right-back?

Having made just 39 appearances that too in the Scottish division, Trent Alexander Arnold clearly has way more experience than Ramsey in the Premier League. The youngster will definitely take his time to get used to Premier League football.

However, Ramsay is tipped to become one of the best young full-backs in the world. The player has been equally creative upfront for Aberdeen and also has had better numbers when it comes to defending.

The numbers speak for themselves, Calvin Ramsay had more tackles per game, more ball recoveries and made more clearances as well than Trent in the league season.

While the duo were almost equal when it came to attacking from a fullback position, Trent did slightly edge with more goals and assists in the league. However, over the years, Calvin Ramsay can surely overtake Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool given that he is much better suited to play as a full-back in a 4-3-3 system.
