Uruguay superstar Suarez sobbed as his squad was eliminated from the Qatar World Cup even after defeating Ghana 2-0 in their last group match. That victory appeared to be adequate to send Uruguay to the knockout stages. However, South Korea’s extra-time winner over Portugal transformed Group H in their favor.
Luis Suarez posted a sentimental text on his social media following the elimination of Uruguay from the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Saturday. Portugal won Group H, whereas South Korea and Uruguay ended with four points, with the former advancing because it netted more goals in the group stage.
Suarez was noticeably disturbed after the results, as he took to social media to applaud his country’s fans and assert that his squad gave it their everything in Qatar while defending his teammates. He tweeted :
“Saying goodbye to a World Cup hurts a lot, but we have the peace of mind that we left everything for our country. Proud to be Uruguayan even though they don’t respect us. Thanks to each of the Uruguayans who supported us in every part of the world!”
