“I’m really impatient”- Erik ten Hag reveals what’s the ‘most difficult part’ in Manchester United’s rebuild

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has expressed his emotions in a recent interview saying that he is “really impatient” about building his squad and wants to take the club to the top as soon as possible but later has also accepted that the process will take time and for he is still working in order to develop the team focusing more on the attack.

Ten Hag left Ajax Amsterdam and was provided with the United job after Ralf Ragnick’s disastrous charge was over. He took charge in the summer starting his preparations early right from the preseason games and after the first two defeats, he has finally taken hold of his duties. His side has now gone unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions also qualifying for the Europa League knockout stages.

Manchester United has scored 16 goals in the league this season which is the joint-lowest of the current top eight teams and hence Ten Hag has asked the fans to rely on him and trust his process. United has maintained their unbeaten streak with the last loss coming at the hands of local rivals Manchester City when they were thrashed 6-3 but since then United has looked like a completely different team.

Will Erik Ten Hag achieve great things at Manchester United?

Erik Ten Hag said in the interview, “Developing a team takes time. You can’t go from zero to 100 – you have to construct it with the fundamentals before you go to the top, to the roof. Unfortunately, it takes time, and I don’t have time and I’m really impatient but I have to [wait] so it’s quite clear. I think we’re getting better at defending with 11, the players are more aware of it, that we have to do it with 11.”

Referring to the defeat at Etihad, he said, “We came out of the international break, and in that game, we just forgot our rules, principles, and beliefs. Also, our build-up is improving game-to-game so now we have to develop more on our attacking game but it’s the most difficult part, so it takes even more time but you can’t increase the tempo of that process. I want it but we have to take our time.”
