“In the bread and cheese, I choose…”- Gonzalo Higuain delivers his verdict on Lionel Messi v Cristiano Ronaldo debate

Gonzalo Higuain was asked to choose between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as his favorite player. Higuain is one of the select few players that have had the opportunity to compete against some of the arguably finest players in football history.

He shared the field with Ronaldo throughout his two spells at Juventus and Real Madrid. Alongside Messi, he was a consistent component of the Argentina national squad.

Higuain named Messi as his best player in an interview with TYC Sports through Sportskeeda. “I go with Leo for the bread and cheese. Cristiano is a cool-headed and amiable individual off the field. We had a strong friendship at Juventus since I observed him to be mature among his family and kids. He also depended heavily on me.”

Messi and Higuain have never helped Argentina win a title. Higuain was quick to congratulate Messi on winning his first-ever title with Argentina last year, even though they lost the 2014 World Cup final.

“Given what he has accomplished and everything he accomplishes for the National Team, Messi winning the Copa América makes me extremely delighted. Despite selecting his Argentina comrade, the 34-year-old, who now plays for Inter Miami, praised both Messi and Ronaldo. I believe I was either the first or second player to use both of them the most.”

“I don’t believe there will ever be another clash like it in football history between these two large, diverse players.”

Over the past ten years, the sport has been dominated by both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. They have pushed their respective sides to the pinnacle of the sport as a result of their personal rivalry, winning several individual awards.

Both athletes, though, are now in their 30s, with Ronaldo really being closer to 40. When compared to how it was when they were at the top of their game, their game has occasionally displayed hints of fragility.

They still possess the ability to execute on the grandest platform, though. After joining a subpar Manchester United squad last season, Ronaldo ended with 24 goals in 38 appearances. Meanwhile, Messi just led Argentina to victory against Italy to win the CONMEBOL-UEFA Cup of Champions.
