According to a new report, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened to imprison and torture the families of Iranian World Cup football team if the players do not “behave” before their match against the United States on Tuesday. After the team failed to sing the national anthem during their opening match against England last week, the IRGC summoned players to a meeting, a source told CNN.

After the game, the IRGC reportedly issued a warning, stating that players who refused to sing the national anthem or engaged in any form of political protest against the Iranian government would face “violence and torture” in retaliation. The players sang the national anthem on Friday before beating Wales in their second group stage match.
