“It’s just ridiculous”- Manchester United legend slams Antony over his infamous 360 turn

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has slammed new signing Antony for his showboating skills in the first half of the Europa League match against Sheriff last night. The Man United star performed his trademark 720-degree spin during their 3-0 win and Scholes labeled him as ‘a clown’.

Antony was playing in his usual natural position that is the right wing and as he went along the flanks, he performed the trick which was completely insignificant according to the situation and with the scores level at that point in time, he carelessly put the ball out of play after committing to a poorly judged pass.

Erik Ten Hag wasn’t impressed with him and also subbed him off at halftime and Scholes also warned the new signing saying that he ‘needs that knocking out of him’ if he wants to be a successful player at United. Scholes spoke to BT Sport about Ten Hag saying, “More or less. I think it would have had a little something to do with it. You saw his reaction on the bench. I think it frustrated him. I just don’t know what it achieves.”

What did Paul Scholes and Robbie Savage say about the player?

Paul Scholes wasn’t happy with Antony and didn’t hold back his frustration thereby bashing the player, “This country, any country even Brazil. They don’t want to see that do they? I like to see skills and entertainment, I just don’t think it’s a skill or entertainment it’s just being a clown. I don’t know what he’s doing. It’s just ridiculous. It’s showboating, just look at him (Ten Hag shaking his head), that sums up what’s he thinking.”

Even Wales legend Robbie Savage added, “That for me is ridiculous. Because he’s done that and then put the ball out of play – embarrassing! Doing that with nobody near him, and then he puts the ball out of play. If I was the manager, I would not be happy. And you can hear the crowd – he’s trying to win a game, moving the ball quickly with nobody near him, and he puts the ball out of play.”
