“It’s out of our control”- Harry Kane and England disappointed after being prohibited from wearing Rainbow bands during 2022 FIFA World Cup

England, Wales, and several other countries intended to dress the OneLove armband in place of the FIFA-assigned captain’s armband in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, with the rainbow love heart sending out a message of inclusivity in the aftermath of bigotry and discrimination.

After hours of upheaval, seven European nations abandoned initiatives to proceed with the “OneLove” advert, and Kane was therefore instructed to wear FIFA’s “anti-discrimination” armband when Gareth Southgate’s team entered their contest in Qatar by thumping Iran.

Harry Kane has acknowledged that his England team was ‘disappointed’ that the judgment not to wear the OneLove captain’s armband had been made for them.

“We’re disappointed,” Harry Kane said after England thrashed Iran 6-2 in their first match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup as reported by the Daily Mail. “I said yesterday we wanted to wear it. That decision was taken out of my hands today. I turned up to the stadium with the armband that I wore and I was told I had to wear that [the official FIFA armband]. It’s out of our control as players.”

Harry Kane did not score in England’s 6-2 win over Iran, but he was instrumental in two of the goals. He now has the same number of World Cup assists as Cristiano Ronaldo.

As England thrashed Iran, Harry Kane equaled Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup assist total. Many were surprised that Kane did not score as the Three Lions took off to a flying start in Qatar.

He did, meanwhile, play an important role in the game, assisting Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford for England’s third and fifth goals. That has been his first two assists in his seventh FIFA World Cup game, which is the same number as Ronaldo has in 17 games.
