La Liga President Javier Tebas has been in the limelight for quite a while. The 61-year-old has been involved in several controversies in the past. The FFP scandal surrounding FC Barcelona and Negreira’s Case are just to name a few. He has also been at the heart of controversy for his close support for Real Madrid. The La Liga President is an open supporter of Los Blancos and has admitted to it in the past.
Recently, Javier Tebas made a comment regarding the same, in which he told the media, “I’m a Real Madrid fan, but I lost my fanaticism a long time ago.” His comments have sparked controversy, and fans on social media platform X have expressed their discontent regarding the same. In an interview with MovistarFutbol, Tebas clarified that his ‘fanaticism’ with Real Madrid had ended a long time ago.
He also spoke of the possibility of Barcelona making signings in the winter transfer window and also of the possibility of the European Super League. Back in 2015, Tebas openly claimed that he was an avid Real Madrid supporter. Tebas’ tenure ends in 2024 after an 11-year tenure as President.
Javier Tebas is convinced that Kylian Mbappe will move to La Liga next season
Speaking in an interview for Movistar+, La Liga President Javier Tebas commented on the likelihood of Kylian Mbappe making a move to Spain. The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid. In this ongoing transfer saga, the Madrid-based club hasn’t been able to strike a deal with the Parisians after 2 summers’ worth of speculation.
Even though the La Liga president is not ‘convinced’ of a move for Mbappe, he feels that it is the player’s destiny to join Los Blancos. “I think he will be in La Liga next season at 70 or 80 percent,” said Tebas. He also added that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has a way of getting what he wants. “He doesn’t lose at anything,” said the Spaniard.
Real Madrid are without a ‘top’ striker following the departure of Karim Benzema. Even though the signing of Joselu offers relief momentarily, the club will look to land Kylian Mbappe. It is unclear whether Real will go after Mbappe in January or wait for his contract to expire. Mbappe’s deal with PSG ends in 2024.
