Joao Felix reportedly rejected multiple clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United in order to join FC Barcelona on transfer deadline day from Atlético de Madrid.
Liverpool’s team was ripped apart this summer with many of the players departing the club. The likes of Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho left for Saudi Arabia. The acquisitions of Alex Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, while they are good signings, might not be enough for the demanding football style which Jurgen Klopp prefers. It was reported in Spain that João Félix was contacted by Liverpool but were rejected. The Portuguese has already experienced English football when he played for Chelsea in the Premier League last season scoring 4 goals in 16 appearances.
The Portuguese has decided to currently close his chapter in English football. The player showcased his incredible technical abilities and skills for Chelsea. However, Chelsea fans criticized the player for having poor decision-making. Under Jurgen Klopp, maybe the player could be coached into a better player. However as the player chose the colors of Blaugrana, Jurgen will have to put his trust in the current Liverpool squad.
Liverpool are still currently looking for a defensive midfielder. Wataru Endo signed for the club this summer. However as the Japanese player is already 30, he cannot be seen as a long-term solution in the middle of the field.
Liverpool’s deadline day saga

The biggest story of transfer deadline day was the possible transfer of Mohamed Salah to Al-Ittihad. The Saudi club sent an offer of £120m + for the player in packages. Liverpool rejected the offer as the player is an integral player for the club. While the transfer window in the Premier League is over, that is not the case in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia’s transfer window slams shut on the 7th of September, 10pm UK time. This means Al-Ittihad can still make an attempt for the player. Reports were made that an offer of £200m was being prepared by Al-Ittihad for Salah. Jurgen Klopp, however, has denied any possibility of the player leaving. “The Mo Salah to Al-Ittihad story hasn’t quite gone away has it?” Jurgen was asked. “For me it has…” Klopp replied.
Al-Ittihad are willing to offer Mohamed Salah more salary than Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently on the highest wages in Saudi.
As of now, Mohamed Salah is currently a Liverpool player. His contract runs out in 2025. By that time the player will be 33. Will Saudi Arabia approach the player then? Al-Ittihad signed Karim Benzema at 35. Al-Nassr signed Ronaldo when he was 37. Saudi Arabia will most likely not mind waiting for Salah’s contract to run its course.
