Karim Benzema intentionally not called up for 2022 FIFA World Cup final for France

Karim Benzema’s injury at the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Karim Benzema was reigned out of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar due to a thigh muscle tear. The 34-year-old Ballon d’Or champion had been training separately from the French team due to knee and hamstring injuries. It was Benzema’s 1st comprehensive practice session, and he was obligated to depart early due to distress in his left thigh, with the French Football Federation afterward revealing the striker had “a tear” that would keep him out of the contest.

Benzema earlier said via Instagram, “In my life, I have never given up but tonight I have to think about the team, as I have always done, so reason tells me to leave my place to someone who can help our group make a good World Cup.”
