Kasper Schmeichel linked heavily for to a move to French side OGC Nice.

In his search to leave the King Power Stadium this summer, Leicester City legend Kasper Schmeichel has chosen OGC Nice as one of the many possibilities for the next season. As for Leicester City’s point of view, they are yet to sign a single player in the ongoing transfer window and will be looking to buy a decent goalkeeper if Kasper leaves which will mark the end of his 11-year stay at the club.

Schmeichel was handed the captain’s armband after Wes Morgan left and he has won the Premier League title, the FA Cup, the Championship, and also the Community Shield with the club.

It is expected that Kasper will undergo a medical with the Ligue 1 club in the next two or three days. It will be very hard for Leicester City to replace someone like Kasper and will be looking to bring in someone who can live up to the expectations of the club and fill in the boots of the Danish star.

Is Kasper Schmeichel getting closer and closer to OGC Nice?

Although there were some leaks about the transfer saying that there won’t be any transfer fee for the player but now it has been decided that an agreement of around €1 million plus bonuses will be paid to Leicester City.

After the pre-season game against Sevilla Brendan Rodgers, Leicester City‘s manager spoke to Sky Sports regarding the interest that Kasper Schmeichel has inherited from all the clubs around the world and that his team could start the season without him in the goal.

He also added saying that Kasper has every right to think about his future and that the club is not going to stop him from fulfilling his dream and wish and Rogers made it clear that nobody is guaranteed to play at his club, the players need to defend their place and prove themselves on the training grounds and in the games to strengthen their position in the starting eleven.

Rogers was in no short of appreciation for Kasper saying that he has been the savior for the club in goal for many years and has saved them in many matches with his breathtaking performances. He’s been a great player for me in my time here.

Schmeichel joined Leicester City from Manchester City in 2011 and has played a total of 479 matches for the club making him the third highest player to do so on the all-time Foxes’ list. He also represented the club in all the European competitions: the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa Conference League, and the UEFA Europa League.
