Kevin De Bruyne is back in action for Manchester City in the Premier League! A player that needs no introduction whatsoever, the Belgian midfielder was out with a serious hamstring injury since early August. He announced his return to the league in sublime fashion, picking up a goal and a match-winning assist in his 21-minute cameo. An emphatic post-match celebration and interview has fans pumped for the second-half of the season.

Kevin De Bruyne was crucial to Manchester City as they overcame Newcastle United 3-2. His equaliser in the 74th minute announced that he’s picking up right where he left off. In the post-match interview, De Bruyne said, “I missed this”, as he looked back at his performance of the night. He also said that his return took a lot of ‘willpower’ and determination.

Talking to the reporters, he said,

 It's more willpower than anything else. I know I can't do that for 90 minutes at the moment. But I can put in a shift for 20-25 minutes at full pace...I feel it in my lungs!

The Belgian admitted that he was fatigued by the end of the match.

He however, assured that he’s in the best shape possible at the moment. With yesterday’s win, Manchester City are within touching distance (2 points) of league leaders Liverpool.

Taking a look back at what Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said earlier, Kevin De Bruyne’s return had the whole nation ‘shaking‘. Many called him the heart of Manchester City and as Pep Guardiola‘s most important piece in the squad after a thrilling cameo against Newcastle. Some fans also spammed clips of his emphatic celebration at the full-time whistle while others said that the league is a ‘wrap’.

Furthermore, there are fabs who Many believe that De Bruyne’s return was the only thing stopping City from rising to the top of the table. Another fan renamed De Bruyne to ‘De King’.

As it stands, Manchester City are now second in the league table. Pep Guardiola and co. are now just two points behind Liverpool, who are on 45 points, after playing an equal number of games. Guardiola pushed away all praise for himself and let Kevin De Bruyne’s “pure talent” over tactics that won them the game. He also said that his team is hungry for the Premier League title.
