Kylian Mbappe recently spoke to the media after Paris Saint Germain’s disappointing 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Goals from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry meant the Parisians lost 3-0 on aggregate and fell short of expectations in Europe once again.
Mbappé said, “We didn’t miss much when we look at the state of both teams. They have a team built to win the Champions League. We, our maximum, that’s it. At the beginning of the season, at the first Champions League press conference, I said we were going to do our best.” He added, “We are disappointed that’s how it is. We must move on, try to question everyone. We will question ourselves and return to our daily championship life.”
Kylian Mbappe when asked whether the elimination would play on his future, said: “No, no, I’m calm — the only thing that matters to me this season is to win now Ligue 1 and then we’ll see. At the moment, I’m only talking about this season. Nothing else matters to me. We are disappointed.”
Paris Saint Germain plays two more games this month, facing Brest away before hosting Rennes at the Parc des Princes. The 24-year-old also said that his only focus now would be to win the Ligue 1 title for PSG.

Bayern Munich built on their 1-0 first-leg advantage and defeated Kylian Mbappe’s PSG 3-0 on aggregate in the Champions League. Goals from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry helped the home side overcome the Parisians. After Marco Verratti threw the ball away in his own box, the Cameroonian gave Bayern the lead. Gnabry scored on a fast break in the 89th minute to seal the victory.
Following a mistake by Bayern goalkeeper Yann Sommer, they came close to taking the lead. However, Mathias de Ligt superbly blocked Vitinha’s attempt off the line, keeping the scoreline at 0-0.
In the 61st minute, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting gave the home team the lead. After Muller and Goretzka quickly dispossessed Marco Verratti, the 33-year-old scored. He scored his fourth goal in the Champions League this year, and Leon Goretzka contributed with his fourth assist.
Bayern now advances to the quarter-finals of the Champions League and will hope that they can add to their 6 Champions League trophies. They play two more games this month, hosting Augsburg, before taking on Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena.
