“It’s not Kylian Saint-Germain,” Kylian Mbappe lashes out at PSG over using his video for club’s ticket sales
Kylian Mbappe is unhappy with PSG's actions.
Kylian Mbappe took to Instagram to criticise Paris Saint-Germain for using him in a video to promote season ticket sales for the upcoming season. This is another instance of Mbappe being firm regarding image rights issues. The Frenchman previously refused to take part in the French national team’s sponsorship activities.
The star striker spoke out on his Instagram story. “I have just taken part in the viewing of the club’s re-subscription campaign for the 23/24 season. At no point was I informed of the content of the interview with my interviewer. It looked like a basic interview at a club marketing day. I do not agree with this published video.”
He added, “That is why I am fighting for individual image rights. PSG is a great club and a great family, but it is certainly not Kylian Saint-Germain.” The video is entirely focused on Kylian Mbappe, with no mention of Lionel Messi or Neymar.
According to sources, Kylian is stringent on image rights for a particular reason. The player is aware of specific social causes and has rejected dizzying figures of over 10 million Euros just not to be related to a few products. Reports say the striker does not want to be associated with “bookmakers, junk food companies or unhealthy drinks.”

Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid and the obstacle of image rights
Real Madrid has tried and failed French superstar Kylian Mbappe to the Santiago Bernabeu. The club almost signed him on a free transfer in 2022. However, PSG was able to convince him to extend his contract. Javier Tebas, La Liga’s President, has also hinted at Real Madrid signing Mbappe.
Nevertheless, there is a significant issue for Los Blancos in their pursuit to sign him. Kylian Mbappe has a non-negotiable mindset concerning image rights – he wants 100 per cent control. He and his team prefer to carefully curate their sponsorship campaigns by themselves. Kylian has already encountered troubles with France and Paris Saint-Germain regarding this matter.
Real Madrid usually requires players to give in some of their image rights. The most common procedure in Madrid is that image rights are shared equally between the club and the player. The only time they broke this was for the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, where the player got 60 per cent and the club 40 per cent. It remains to be seen what position Madrid adopt with Mbappe.
