Showing a noble gesture, Lionel Messi recently gifted 35 brand new gold-plated iPhone 14s to all Argentine football players and staff members following their victory at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Earlier, Argentina won the World Cup in Qatar in December 2022 after beating France in the final in which Messi scored a brace and carried forward his team to victory.
Lionel Messi won the Golden Ball for being the best player of the tournament at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and completed his trophy cabinet after winning World Cup. After almost two months, the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner, who recently won FIFA’s Best Player of the Year award, decides to gift each member of the squad and the supporting staff, a gold-plated iPhone 14.
The players’ and Staff members’ full names are imprinted on the iPhone along with Argentina’s logo and three stars- representing their three World Cup wins. Besides this, ‘World Cup Champions 2022’ is also inscribed on the gold.
In the current market, the standard iPhone 14 max pro, which Lionel Messi, gifted the players and staff members, costs around $1029. Since they are also gold-plated, Messi would’ve spent nearly $40,000-50,000 on the gifts.

A look at Lionel Messi’s stats and numbers in the 2022-23 season so far
In 28 matches played so far, Messi has scored 17 goals and provided 16 assists. In the Ligue 1 alone, the PSG superstar has netted the ball on 12 occasions while collecting an assist 12 times. The Messi-Mbappe pair has been dominating in Ligue 1 this season so far as most of Mbappe’s goals have come off Messi’s assists and vice-versa.
However, in his professional career, in which he has won 42 trophies so far, Messi missed out on winning the Coup de France title this season as well, making it the only tournament in which the Argentine superstar has featured but not been able to win it. In the Champions League, the former Barcelona star has scored four goals and provided four assists.
PSG is scheduled to face Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League’s Round of 16 clash next week. Currently trailing 1-0 to the Bavarians and with Neymar out due to an injury, it’ll be intriguing to see whether Messi and Mbappe can help PSG in making a great comeback in the match against Bayern or not.
