Argentine maestro Lionel Messi made his acting debut this year. He reportedly featured in the Argentine comedy-drama “Los Protectores.”

According to reports, Messi appeared as himself in a five-minute scene in the series. In the scene, he’s visited in Paris by three football agents to discuss a project to support young players who compete in several European clubs. The series, first aired in 2022 will show Messi in its second season. Starring Gustavo Bermudez, Adrian Suar, Andres Parra, and Jorgelina Aruzzi, the show talks about three football agents who are trying to save their business. As the name suggests, the three agents are not only agents to their players, they also act as real-life guides to keep them away from the temptation and distractions rife in the world around the players.

Inter Miami has appointed former Argentina manager Tata Martino as the club’s new head coach. He has joined the club as he awaits his visa confirmation.

Martino will reportedly reunite with Lionel Messi. He coached Messi during his stint on the national team between 2014 and 2016. Messi announced earlier this month that he had opted to join the MLS side. He also attracted interest from former club FC Barcelona and Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal.

Martino has previous experience in MLS. He managed Atlanta United for two years after he left the Argentina national team. He was Atlanta’s first coach after they joined the league in 2016. Martino lead the team to the MLS Cup in 2018. But then he left them for some personal reasons.

The former Atlanta coach talked about his move back to the MLS in a recent interview with The Athletic. He said, “MLS is my weakness. I was part of an extraordinary project with Atlanta United that had a clear direction, a lot of communication, and similar objectives that were established very quickly and executed. After coaching in MLS, I became attracted to it. I like the league. The possibility of returning to MLS is always there.”

He also talked about how Messi’s inclusion in the league would be of a great impact. He said, “In MLS, a league that continues to take steps forward, and one that seeks a level of excellence any time it makes changes, to welcome the best player in the world would be incredibly impactful.”

After leaving the MLS side, Martino coached Mexico in 2019. With them, he won the CONCACAF Gold Cup later that year. But the team struggled at the 2022 World Cup. They were eliminated at the group stage for the first time in 28 years. Mexico finished behind Argentina and Poland in Group C. Martino subsequently left his role after his contract expired.

Inter Miami has been without a head coach since Phil Neville was sacked at the start of June. The Florida side won only 15 points from 15 games and was bottom of the Eastern Conference when Neville left.
