Paris Saint-Germain attacker Lionel Messi won’t take a pay cut amid financial concerns for the Ligue 1 club. Messi is out of contract in July and reportedly confirmed his desire to stay at Parc des Princes back in December. But burdened by heavy contracts and limited by FFP regulations, PSG would have to slash their payroll by almost 30% in order to match or increase Messi’s salary this season, and they are trying to reduce his wages in any new contract.
Messi has cleared it up that he won’t take a pay cut to stick around, according to reports. The Argentine captain has the decision to make this summer. FC Barcelona verbally confirmed their interest in bringing Messi back to the club. MLS club Inter Miami is also said to be interested. Messi has not publicly commented on his future.
PSG are convinced that they want Messi to pen a new deal. And talks are ongoing. PSG manager Christophe Galtier has also emphasized he wants Messi in the squad next year.
Messi will continue to be among the Paris side for the rest of the season. He is reportedly going to be there for PSG’s Ligue 1 fixture against Lyon on Sunday. PSG are six points clear of second-placed Marseille with a game in hand.

Lionel Messi scores his 100th International goal for Argentina with his latest hattrick in a friendly match against Curacao: Report

Argentina maestro Lionel Messi surpassed the 100 career-goal mark for his national team in the friendly game against Curacao Tuesday. The 2022 World Cup Winners defeated the Men from the Caribbean 7-0 in a one-sided contest in what was their second fixture since that epic final in Doha in December last year.
It was Messi leading from the front as he scored a goal in just the 20th minute of the match. This put Argentina in front, and not much later Nico Gonzalez extended the team’s lead by scoring with a header. Messi’s first goal was his 100th for the country. He then netted the 101st goal in the 33rd minute with a crossed shot that beat the keeper. In the 37th minute, Messi got another opportunity to score and Messi obliged by completing a sensational hat-trick.
Between his second and third goal, Messi had also provided an assist through which Enzo Fernandez had scored, such was his form on the pitch at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades. With 102 goals to his credit now, Messi is only behind Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo (122) and Iran’s Ali Daei with 109 in the list of the highest goal-scorers for their country.
