As per reports, the parents of the Liverpool Colombiana start Luis Diaz were kidnapped as the couple was making their way home in their car. Subsequently, ‘gunmen’ on bikes blocked their way, forcibly kidnapping them and driving off in their own vehicle(s). Following the incident, the Colombian soccer federation urged the authorities to quicken the investigation process. They also showed their support for their player saying it is ‘regrettable’.

Liverpool star Luis Diaz has been a fan favorite ever since his signing for the club. The Colombian signed for Liverpool back in 2022, from then-champions Porto. Following his £37 million transfer to the Premier League, the 26-year-old has scored 14 goals and set up another 5. However, recently, news surrounding the player has put the footballing world into deep concern.

A team of investigators was arranged to search for the couple in Barrancas. Eventually, the player’s mother was found by the team, as revealed by Colombian President Gustavo Petro via X. However, his father is still missing but the President assured that the authorities are working in full flow in Barrancas.

The Director of National Police, William Rene Salamanca, assured that ‘every available agent’ is being used to find the player’s father. Díaz has yet to make a comment on the same.

Meanwhile, more reports have sprouted saying that the father has been rescued. These reports suggest that the player’s father has also been rescued by police and that the rescue involved a shootout that left two people dead. The shocking news has been coming out on social media. However, there has been no official comment regarding the same.

Liverpool set to face Nottingham Forest in hopes of overtaking Manchester City

Jurgen Klopp‘s Liverpool is in great form, having not lost at Anfield in their last 8 games. They aim to continue this streak on Sunday. After a dominant 5-1 win against Toulouse, Liverpool is now 4th in the table with 20 points. A victory on Sunday could move Klopp’s team ahead of defending champions Manchester City in the standings.

Nottingham however, have not had the best of starts to their season. They find themselves 15th in the table, with 10 points from their first 9 games. Liverpool will go into the tie confident of a win. Stats-wise, Liverpool have won all of the last 12 meetings between the two sides. Moreover, the Reds have only lost one of their last 46 home matches.

While Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah, and Alexis Mac Allister are all set to start, the availability of Luis Díaz is uncertain. Nottingham are on a poor run of form as well. Forest have managed just 2 wins and 4 draws in their last 10 games. Their last win came against Chelsea, in a surprise 1-0 victory away from home. A win would see the away side jump to 11th, overtaking Chelsea.
