Liverpool star to replace injured Kalvin Philips in England National team for UEFA Nation League fixtures

Liverpool player and captain Jordan Henderson have been called up for the England squad following the injury of Kalvin Phillips. Gareth Southgate has selected a very competitive and very unique set of players for the upcoming Nations League matches against Italy and Germany with a few players receiving their first-national side callup like Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
Gareth Southgate didn’t have Henderson in his plans considering Liverpool’s form this season and also because of his hamstring injury earlier this month but he has made a speedier recovery than expected. On the other hand, Kalvin Phillips suffered a shoulder injury during the friendly match against Barcelona and since then hasn’t been able to make a single start after his big money move from Leeds United.
Pep Guardiola has stood for his player and has stated that the England call-up doesn’t affect the player at all
Although Kalvin Phillips was a big name in the Premier League last season and was one of the best midfielders in the league which earned him his move to champions Manchester City, he hasn’t been able to replicate the same form this season. Some people feel that he is close to facing the axe and he might miss the plane to Qatar due to the injury he suffered which requires surgery.
Guardiola was not at all worried about the news circulating around the player saying, “I don’t know how long he will be out for, I am not a doctor but in a good way, he can arrive of course the World Cup. The doctor says the only solution right now is to do what we have to do. England will face a tough test in the Nations League against Italy on Friday followed by the match against Germany on Monday.
