Manchester City might tie down Phil Foden to a 6-year £200,000 per week contract: Reports

Manchester City forward Phil Foden is set to sign a new bumper six-year contract with the Premier League champions this summer. According to the Daily Star, the 22-year-old’s new contract will pay him a base salary of £200,000 per week, which will be supplemented by team bonuses.

According to the Daily Star, the England international was on the verge of signing a £150,000-a-week contract six months ago but chose to wait until the end of the season to decide his long-term future, which has proven advantageous. With his new contract, the City forward will become one of the club’s highest earners, continuing his story at his boyhood club.

According to reports, the new contract will be for six years, and the extra £50,000 per week will net Foden an extra £15 million over that time. There was never any doubt about Foden’s commitment to City, but he was waiting to see what new signing Erling Haaland would be on before signing a new contract.

City’s new star striker Haaland is thought to be the club’s joint-highest earner, along with Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, on a weekly wage of £400,000 which would have been more than double Foden’s wages if he had accepted the earlier offer.

Manchester City also have an extremely lucrative bonus scheme that contributes to their players’ wages being much higher than initially thought. Foden’s weekly salary is expected to be in the region of £250,000, depending on his and his team’s performance.
