Playing in their first-ever Club World Cup final, Manchester City have not spared the occasion to showcase their class once again. The Treble Winners turned up in Saudi Arabia only to beat Urawa Red Diamonds in the semi-finals. Now, during the clash against Fluminense in the final, Pep Guardiola‘s men broke yet another record with their victorious performance on the night.

Julian Alvarez became the fastest-ever player to net a goal in the FIFA Club World Cup final. He found the net after just 40 seconds of the game. It was Nathan Ake who drove from midfield and took a gorgeous shot that struck the post. The ball rebounded to fall straight into Julian Alvarez’s path who did not miss the opportunity to convert the shot.

He scored his first goal from his chest in an awkward position but ended the game with a brace after grabbing the 4th goal of the game for Man City. Further, Alvarez also won the fourteenth title of his career at just 23 years of age.

The young Argentine boasts an amazing trophy cabinet where the Club World Cup is added alongside the World Cup in just one year. Manchester City will travel back to the Premier League with high spirits as they have won their fifth title in 2023. They have become the first English Club to get this massive achievement etching their names in the history books once again.

Award ceremony at the FIFA Club World Cup 2023

As Manchester City cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory against Fluminense FC, they have now won the fifth title in an unbelievable season. Julian Alvarez stepped up to the occasion in Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland‘s absence and did the job for the team. Al-Ittihad won the Fairplay award at the ceremony.

The silver ball was won by City’s captain Kyle Walker and the golden ball by the Champions League final scorer Rodri. Rodri also went before completing the full game as he was hurt by the nasty challenge. However, this victory makes Pep Guardiola’s fourth club World Cup victory and his fifth trophy in a season with City.

Fluminense secured the runner-up position as Al-Ahli came third. It was Manchester City who will now be lucky enough to wear the new winner’s badge for more than a year as they look to carry the winning momentum and clean-sheet spirit back to the league.
