Manchester United are reportedly set to give the iconic number seven jersey to Alejandro Garnacho. The number has been vacant ever since Cristiano Ronaldo left for Al-Nassr. If Garnacho does take the number, he will be the first teenager since 2003 to wear the number seven for Manchester United.
Since his debut in April 2022, the 18-year-old has been on the rise at Old Trafford. A nominee for the 2023 Golden Boy award, he has made a total of 36 appearances for the team, contributing five goals and five assists. Garnacho presently wears the number 49 shirt at United.
The last teenager to don the famous number was again, the legend Cristiano Ronaldo. The number seven is iconic at Old Trafford. Many legends have worn the number. This list includes players like Ronaldo, George Best, Eric Cantona, and David Beckham.
However, ever since Ronaldo moved to Real Madrid in 2009, the shirt has been worn by players who have not had the best experiences for the Red Devils. It has since been worn by Michael Owen, Antonio Valencia, Angel Di Maria, Memphis Depay, Alexis Sanchez, and Edinson Cavani. With all of these six players performing below expectations.

United aim to lure Onana to Old Trafford
According to rumors, Andre Onana’s representative is ‘currently in Manchester’ as the representatives try to move forward with finding a potential David de Gea replacement. The Inter Milan custodian has been in excellent form for the Nerazzurri this year, contributing to their third-place finish in Serie A, Coppa Italia victory, and Champions League final appearance. United has shown interest in him as a result.
David De Gea, the club’s starting custodian at the moment, appears ready to go. They are no longer able to negotiate with one another. Man Utd had hoped the 32-year-old Spaniard would agree to terms less favorable than his rumored £375k weekly salary, but he refused. Saudi Arabia is showing interest in De Gea.
United, therefore, seeks to add an ace in goal. Onana is being courted, and they are sure they can get the deal done. United and Onana’s agency are now in negotiations as Inter is asking for roughly €60 million (£51 million) for the player.
