Manchester United interested in signing Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic on loan: Reports
Christian Pulisic has been told he can leave Chelsea this summer and Manchester United have registered an interest in taking him on loan. Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner, who have already left the club for their respective former clubs Inter and RB Leipzig on loan, were among the names available when Thomas Tuchel made it clear to a number of his forward players at Chelsea earlier this summer that they could leave the team.
In addition, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech, and Pulisic are all free to join other clubs that are interested in signing each player. Ziyech has been linked with a move to United all summer, but they are currently looking for a new option on the flanks and have enquired about Pulisic’s availability.
Only starting 13 league games last year, Pulisic has already proven his value to the team with two substitute appearances this year. Pulisic is eager to secure consistent playing time heading into the World Cup in November and is now ready to accept a loan exit.
Many clubs have contacted Chelsea to discuss a deal, according to various English media outlets, and United are one of the clubs interested in signing the former Borussia Dortmund player.
Indeed, it’s known that Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan, and Newcastle are among the teams who are reportedly interested in signing him. Chelsea has been asked to be updated on the situations involving Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi, Armando Broja, and Conor Gallagher by Newcastle.
Manchester United considers Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper as a backup
Manchester United are said to be interested in Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer. According to Fabrizio Romano, United have Sommer on their three-man keeper shortlist.
He goes on to tweet: “Sommer has new contract bid [deal until 2025] from Borussia ‘Gladbach with chances to stay. There’s also interest from other PL clubs.” United are in the market to search for a viable backup to David De Gea.
His performance at the weekend highlighted glaring weaknesses and it showed why Erik ten Hag must look at alternatives in goal. De Gea is an excellent shot-stopper but lacks other fundamental qualities to be a modern-day goalkeeper. In Ten Hag’s possession-based system, his keeper needs to be able to be comfortable on the ball and able to start attacks from the back.
