Manchester United legend backs Manchester City against Real Madrid in UCL semi-final clash, says they’ll ‘destroy’ the Los Blancos

Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney believes Manchester City will soundly defeat Real Madrid in the upcoming UEFA Champions League tie. Rooney believes the ginormous stature of Madrid will not affect the Manchester City team this time. Real Madrid and Manchester City will have a different result from the previous year.
The Madrid-based side have shown their utter dominance and confidence in the knock-out stages of the competition multiple times before. The stat book shows that both of them have three wins against each other while drawing two matches, the truth of the matter lies in the other page. In knock-out stages, Real Madrid have never allowed the Cityzens to go through. Even in the last iteration of the UCL, Manchester City beat Los Blancos 4-3 at home, only to lose 3-1 at Santiago Bernabeu to crash out of the tournament.
During an interview, the Red Devil legend said, “Man, The City will not beat Real Madrid, they will destroy them.” The legendary striker also thinks that Erling Haaland will leave the Madrid defense in shambles. The Norwegian has already scored a half-century of goals including a record-breaking 35 goals in the Premier League.
Rooney added, “How do Madrid stop Haaland? Well, in Antonio Rüdiger they have a great competitor who, as a defender, likes one-on-one battles. Even so, I don’t think the German defender can handle Haaland.”
But besides his comments on Real Madrid, he acknowledged both the manager of the teams. He said “You can never write off a collective with Madrid’s experience and history— but I wouldn’t put money on them. I believe this is City’s year,”
