Manchester United look to solve their midfield issues with a move for Milinkovic-Savic: Reports
Manchester United is struggling at the moment and the club is nowhere close to being ready for challenging for a top-four finish this season. Manchester United couldn’t manage a top-four finish last season and have to try their luck in the Europa League this season. With Erik Ten Hag replacing Ralf Ragnick at the start of the new season, things were looking bright for the club with results coming their way in the pre-season matches but with losses against Brighton and Brentford, it looks like they have caught up in the same line where they left last season.
With the midfield problems gettings worse for the club after the departure of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, and Juan Mata, it looks like Ten Hag is looking to bring in Lazio’s star man Milinkovic-Savic into his side. Man United signed Christian Eriksen on a free transfer but they still lack quality in the holding midfield position with lack-luster performances from both McTominay and Fred in the first two matches.
Is Milinkovic-Savic the answer to Manchester United’s midfield problems?
After the 1-2 loss against Brighton last week and the 4-0 demolition against Brentford a few days ago, Manchester United looks far from being settled at the moment. After conceding four goals against the quick-firing Brentford in less than 40 minutes, some pundits have also ruled out Manchester United’s top ten hopes with the great Alan Shearer saying they are a finished club.
Milinkovic-Savic is a great player in the midfield and a lot of clubs have already tried to get him with Lazio not allowing him to part ways with the club. He is the perfect missing piece in Ten Hag’s midfield puzzle and can be the holding midfielder the club has been looking for since the departure of Michael Carrick who was a star man in the CDM position during his time with Sir Alex and Jose Mourinho.
It is only time before the transfers keep happening for Manchester United, as Erik Ten Hag also confirmed in the press conference that they are far from being done in the transfer market. They will look to add to their firepower in the coming weeks with Lazio’s Milinkovic-Savic and Ajax’s Anthony being heavily linked.
