Manchester United needs to act really fast to sign Eric ten Hag as their new manager as RB Leipzig is making quick attempts to poach the Dutch coach

The German football club, RB Leipzig is reportedly attempting to hijack Manchester United’s bid to appoint Erik ten Hag as their manager. The Red Devils’ managerial search appears to have landed on the Ajax boss following an interview that was held back in March.

According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, RB Leipzig is ready to throw a late spanner in the work and the club even claimed that ten Hag is tempted to snub United to join the Bundesliga side.

Leipzig is on the hunt for a third-place finish in Germany and it are hoping to close the gap on Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in the coming years. Rumors suggest that the club believes that they can entice Ten Hag to be a part of their project, especially considering they can offer Champions League football, which looks an increasingly unlikely scenario for United, which currently languish in the seventh place after a 1-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park.

Ralf Rangnick has been in interim charge of the club since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure in November and the German is set to take up a consultancy role once a permanent boss is hired. talkSPORT reported earlier this month that Ajax was expecting United to make a formal offer to pay the £1.7million required to release him from his contract. However, the Red Devils may now face competition in the shape of Bundesliga club RB Leipzig.

The Telegraph reports that Leipzig may take advantage of any delay to negotiations, while De Telegraaf claims Ten Hag is tempted to join them (RB Leipzig). RB Leipzig is under new head coach Domenico Tedesco, who took over from Jesse Marsch – now at Leeds United – in December.

Ten Hag refused to “comment on rumors” and instead insisted reporters ask “questions about the games.”

He told ESPN during a recent press conference, “We are busy with training and with the matches. That way you keep the focus on it. I want to talk about the game and not about other things and whether or not I’ve had conversations. I won’t comment on rumors. Questions about the game or I am going inside.”
