Manchester United players expect Cristiano Ronaldo long gone before Premier League resumes after the World Cup: Reports
Cristiano Ronaldo’s fiery comments criticizing the team and manager Erik ten Hag has the Manchester United players not wanting him to join the team again. According to insiders, Ronaldo’s teammates at United do not anticipate seeing him again after the World Cup because they have grown tired of his complaining and moaning over his alleged mistreatment.
In the wake of Ronaldo’s interview, in which he claimed the club “betrayed” him, the United management, which includes owner Joel Glazer, chief executive Richard Arnold, football director John Murtough, and Ten Hag, has been in discussions about how to handle the player’s situation.
Ronaldo has claimed that club officials are attempting to get rid of him and has said he has “no regard” for manager Ten Hag. United have also sought legal advice on how to handle the situation. In response to Ronaldo’s refusal to play the game against Tottenham and early departure from Old Trafford after United’s 2-0 victory, Ten Hag has instructed directors that Ronaldo, 37, would never be allowed to play for him again.
The bulk of United’s team agrees with their boss that the Portugal international cannot return because of his criticism of Ten Hag and his assertions that someone tried to evict him against his will. Ronaldo was penalised by being left out of United’s squad for their Premier League trip to Chelsea last month. According to Ten Hag, he had to act against such arrogance to maintain discipline within his team.
Manchester United players are in favor of manager Erik ten Hag instead of Cristiano Ronaldo
Many United players, especially Bruno Fernandes, a teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo’s national side, felt that discipline had been allowed to slip under past coaches. They, therefore, praised Ten Hag’s rigorous approach after being hired last summer. Although Ronaldo justified his decision to sit out the match against Spurs on Instagram by citing “the heat of the moment,” his explosive interview with Piers Morgan has put an end to any chance of his being welcomed back into the United fold.
In reaction to Ronaldo’s interview, United said it would “consider its response after the full facts have been established” and insisted that their preparations for the second half of the season, which will begin after the World Cup, were their main priority.
