Manchester United ready to sell this young prodigy after not giving him any chance to play: Reports
James Garner closing for a move away from Manchester United.
James Garner was one of the main players last season for Nottingham Forest and helped them achieve promotion to the Premier League after nearly 23 years. Nottingham Forest entered the Premier League after winning the Championship play-offs beating Huddersfield Town. Garner was loaned out to Forest and many fans hoped that new manager Ten Hag would be willing to try him out after the wonderful year he had last season.
But things haven’t panned out the way Garner would have wanted to and the club is now looking to get rid of the prodigy and has asked the player to find a new club. Many Manchester United fans are unhappy with the decision as they wanted to see the local boy don the red shirt and do great things for the club. Reports from The Athletic state that Garner is valued at £14 million and many clubs around England are looking to pounce on the opportunity to grab the exciting prospect. Everton, Southampton, Leeds United, and the latest interest is coming from Tottenham who has been following the boy since his England youth international days.
Is it a good decision to sell Garner despite Manchester United’s midfield crisis?
After returning from Forest, Garner would have expected to shine in the midfield for Manchester United in the holding midfielder role as the club lacks depth in that position. After sending Henderson on loan to Forest, to the utter surprise of a lot of football fanatics across the world, Erik Tag has now asked for the transfer of one of the most exciting youngsters in the country.
He has only made seven appearances for the first team since getting his first shot during the tenure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in February 2019. In an interview with the Manchester Evening News, he spoke about his preferred role saying that “Personally, I’m not too fussed if I play as a six or eight. Throughout the academy, I played as a deeper lying six. People may be questioned whether could I score and create but when I got to the under-21s I showed I could also play box to box.”
Although the central midfield has been a constant weakness for Manchester United in the last couple of seasons and both Fred and McTominay have been badly out of form and frequently criticized, it is sad to see that a player of Garner’s caliber is being sold without even handing a single chance.
