One of the best left-backs of all time and Los Blancos legend, Marcelo Viera made a heartwarming return to the Spanish club for an off-season visit. As shared by Real Madrid’s official social media accounts, the Brazilian was captured in high spirits meeting and greeting his former teammates and the newcomers representing his club.
Marcelo had joined the Los Blancos as an 18-year-old and went on to become the club’s most decorated player in his outstanding 15-year tenure at the club. His departure to Fluminense in 2022 marked the end of an era and Madrid have since struggled to find an ideal replacement in his esteemed position.
Marcelo did not stop his winning streak. He went on to win the Copa Libertadores crown with his new club as well. As the South American off-season is still going on, Marcelo took time off to visit Madrid’s training ground and also expressed his joy on returning to his ‘Home’ in the video shared by the club.
Marcelo is seen meeting Antonio Rudiger, Luka Modric, Vinicius Jr., and his former boss Carlo Ancelotti with his infectious spirit. With the team struggling with a streak of serious long-term injuries, Marcelo has been linked to a potential reunion at the club. He could help provide good leadership and direction to the club with his experience.
As Carlo Ancelotti navigates through a solution in an injury-plagued season. Marcelo’s presence has significantly encouraged the squad to remember their might and deliver as the best club in the world.
Marcelo expresses praise for Madrid’s in-form midfielder
Real Madrid legend Marcelo made a heartfelt return to the Valdebebas sports city. He expressed his joy at reuniting with former teammates and Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti. During the visit, Marcelo praised the exceptional form of midfielder Jude Bellingham. He described his start at the club as “tremendous” and nearly unbeatable.
Bellingham? He is my son Liam's idol and I wanted to take a picture with him. I see him very well. He has had a very good start. We know that in Real Madrid you always have to improve but his start is tremendous, almost unbeatable.
Marcelo, who won 25 titles with Real Madrid, shared the special moment of presenting a Fluminense jersey to Ancelotti and conveyed his optimism about the team’s performance. He expressed confidence and motivation among the players for the upcoming tournament. In an interview with Real Madrid TV, Marcelo emphasized the significance of the reunion. He stated,
This reunion has been incredible for me. I've been away for a long time, almost a year without coming, and I missed my home.
The Brazilian football icon also acknowledged the development of his compatriots Eder Militao, Rodrygo Goes, and Vinícius Junior. He expressed pride in their improvement each season. Marcelo’s camaraderie with Ancelotti was evident as he thanked the coach for his ongoing support.
Since leaving the club and backing Fluminense in the Copa Libertadores final. Looking ahead, Marcelo anticipated a “beautiful match” in the Spanish Super Cup semifinal between Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid.
