Marcus Rashford could find himself in Erik ten Hag‘s bad books after the Manchester United forward was found clubbing straight after the Manchester Derby defeat at Old Trafford. The player had yet another underwhelming performance on the night as United lost 3-0 to their bitter rivals, Manchester City.
After the derby, Marcus Rashford celebrated his 26th birthday at ‘Chinawhite’ with friends and family, including United’s Tyrell Malacia. Sources close to Marcus described it as an intimate, planned party in a private area of the club. The party lasted until 3:30 a.m., but it’s unclear if Marcus stayed that late. Nevertheless, he still attended the next day’s training session at Carrington.
At the moment, no ‘reported’ decision has been made by the United manager following the player’s decision to party right after the club’s poor performance against their rivals. Erik ten Hag could decide to remain neutral on the incident however, heading to a high-profile venue after such a result has been considered by many fans in the past as ‘in poor taste’.
Manchester United and Marcus Rashford will now prepare for their next fixture which is in the EFL Cup against Newcastle United, followed by a Premier League fixture against Fulham.
How do United fans feel about Marcus Rashford’s current run of form?
After his impressive 2022/23 season at Manchester United, where he scored over 30 goals, the 26-year-old signed a new contract in July, worth £300,000 a week until 2026. But, his recent poor form has left many United fans questioning if he deserved such a high salary.
Marcus Rashford has scored only one goal for Manchester United this season- against Arsenal at the Emirates, and he hasn’t been playing well. This has frustrated many United fans. Additionally, the club has lost five of their last ten Premier League games, the most since 1986-87 when they lost six.
Many fans have asked for Marcus Rashford to be dropped by the manager, however, Erik has shown faith in the player as the England International has never played fewer than 60 minutes each game in the league. This has led to criticisms of both the manager and the player.
