The FIFA disciplinary committee has suspended Luis Rubiales from all football-related activities for three years. In August, Luis Rubiales kissed Jenni Hermoso on her lips without her consent after Spain’s Women secured a historic win over England.

FIFA has officially banned Rubiales from football for breaching Article 13 of the FIFA disciplinary code. Even with the historic win, the scandalous act from the former Spanish Football Association president has totally overshadowed Spain Women’s landmark win.

The whole controversy stemmed from when Luis Rubiales kissed Jenni Hermoso as the Spain national team was collecting their medals after winning their first ever FIFA World Cup trophy. The incident went viral all over social media very rapidly as fans and netizens criticized Luis’s behavior and accused him of abuse and harassment towards the 33-year-old forward.

Last month, following the widespread criticism of the act, the court sanctioned a restraining order that prevents Rubiales from going within 200 meters of Hermoso or contacting her. However, the 46-year-old Rubailes has resigned from his position as president of RFEF.

After much deliberation, the official statement from FIFA has been released. They provided an update on banning Luis Rubiales in their official statement.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has banned Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish Football Association (RFEF), from all football-related activities at national and international levels for three years, having found that he acted in breach of article 13 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

With the latest developments of Luis Rubiales being handed a ban from football extending from 90 days to 3 years, the position of the Spanish Football Association’s (RFEF) president is vacant. There have been many speculations about who is going to fill the respectable and responsible position.
