Is Erik ten Hag a very strict manager or has he built up a reputation for having strained relationships with his players? United boss Erik ten Hag and Marcus Rashford have become the next pair to have reportedly ‘fallen-out’ at Old Trafford. As per insider information, the Dutchman and Rashford are barely on speaking terms, with the incident in Belfast the reason for the same.

Ten Hag’s position at United has come under serious pressure time and again following a disappointing season. From an early exit in the Champions League to the Jadon Sancho saga, Ten Hag cannot vouch for a spotless tenure at United. With Rashford being his most recent ‘target’, fans have to wonder if time is up for the manager. It is understood that Ten Hag feels betrayed by his #10, who tried to deceive him.

The manager believes that Rashford tried to establish the incident to have occurred 24 hours prior to when it actually happened. In footballing terms, Rashford hasn’t done very well either, with just one goal to show for his last five games.

His next game is against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Thursday. Rashford has managed to score just 5 goals in the league this season.

Erik ten Hag explains why Red Devils cant replicate 2019 Ajax

Several Manchester United fans were under the impression that their club would soon play the free-flowing football that was displayed by Erik ten Hag’s Ajax in 2019. However, soon after his arrival at the club, supporters were quickly given a reality check. While every manager has his own tactics and philosophical approach to the game, making a team play a particular style of football is easier said than done.

In a recent press conference, the Dutchman admitted that he cannot make United play the way his Ajax did years ago.

I came here with my philosophy based on possession, but also to try and combine it with the United DNA.
Erik Ten Hag said

He explained that United have to adapt to a style of play that sees them play the ball out from the back.

He added that the club wouldn’t have brought in Andre Onana if they were planning on playing long balls, as asked by the reporter. Many fans have backed the manager following the video while others remained unconvinced of his tactics. Some shifted the blame to the players for not being able to give the manager what he asked of them. United are 6th in the league table and take on Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.
