Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino in a recent interview, expressed that the club has offered to help midfielder Moises Caicedo, in light of the declared state of emergency in Ecuador. Pochettino revealed Caicedo has been anxious in recent weeks about the well-being of his family in Ecuador.

The Ecuadorian midfielder, who joined from Brighton last season for a record £115 million fee. Unfortunately, the 22-year-old is currently grappling with personal distress as he remains concerned about his family residing in Ecuador. President Daniel Noboa of Ecuador declared a 60-day state of emergency, imposing a nationwide curfew. This decision came in response to widespread unrest, including explosions, looting, gunfire, violence, and arson, triggered by the disappearance of a prominent gang leader from prison.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino acknowledged that Caicedo has expressed significant concerns about the instability in his home country, Ecuador. Due to a declared state of emergency, Caicedo has been worried for the past few weeks. But the Argentine mentioned an improvement recently.

He is okay now, he is better now, he feels better. He says the situation there is not normal but it is improving, and now it is more relaxed. The situation is not easy in South America; it is not only in Ecuador. Normally, the club cares for him. If you have problems, the club is there to try to help us in different ways. It has happened. It is a good thing for the club to help the player because we need him in his best condition to compete.

The manager noted that the club has provided support to the player, emphasizing the importance of having the Ecuadorian in the best condition for the season. Moises has been provided with 24-hour security.

The 22-year-old’s fears for his family living in South America are not unusual, especially considering the recent kidnapping incident involving Liverpool forward Luiz Diaz’s parents in Barrancas, Colombia. Despite the personal turmoil, Caicedo has featured in all of the Blues’ last five matches.

Chelsea secured the services of the 22-year-old talented midfielder, Moises Caicedo, from fellow Premier League side Brighton, for a record-breaking fee of £115 million, making it one of the most expensive transfers in football history. He joined in the summer transfer window of 2023, signing a massive eight-year contract with the Blues.

Despite having a breakthrough season with Brighton in 2022-23, he experienced a rocky start to his career at Stamford Bridge. In his debut for Chelsea, he gave away a penalty which was later converted by Lucas Paqueta.

Moises Caicedo came on as a substitute for Chelsea in the 61st minute of a 3-1 defeat to West Ham. He has since then improved his form, featuring in 24 matches and forming a strong midfield partnership with Enzo Fernandez. He has not scored a goal nor assisted one, in what is turning out to be a disappointing season for the Blues.
